Learning Oak, 

Early Childhood

offers a great alternative 

to traditional day care services. 

Learning Oak

combines child care services 

with a full and comprehensive

 developmentally appropriate 

preschool curriculum with 

Mi Escuela (My School), 

a Spanish Bilingual Program  option  and experienced teachers. 

Our DCFS licensed Center, 

offers an Early Childhood Program 

with half and full day play based curriculum for ages 2 to 6 years old with small groups 

and low student-teacher ratios. 

Our Innovative and creative 

curriculum offers hands on activities and 

enrichment experiences

 with school field trips, 

visitors and outings.

We'll provide healthy and 

mostly organic meals and snacks. 

Learning Oak is proud to run 

an Eco-friendly practice.

CURRICULUM

Because young children learn

 through rich and varied play, 

an important time of the day 

is dedicated to intentional 

free -play time.  

Children choose from areas 

such as Blocks, Art, Book Corner, 

Small and Large Motor, Math Center, Science Center, Writing Center, Sensory  and 

group activities

such as Dramatic Play.

These areas are planned 

and set up

 around thematic units and emergent interests. 

Each group has an active 

play period outdoors, 

as well as several 

large group times for story, snack, 

music and movement 

and discussions. 

The curriculum for 

Two's & Three's and Preschoolers 

Programs are centered on supporting 

children’s social, emotional, physical, language

 and cognitive development.

Our Programs

Two's & Three's Program

For children who are 

24 months up to 48 months.  

No need to be potty trained.  

Our 2's and 3's Program provides 

a safe and nurturing atmosphere, 

allowing for a child’s freedom 

of movement and learning 

directed by a child’s interest. 

Children experience cognitive and motor development by hands-on activities 

at an unhurried pace. 

The 2's and 3's classroom supports learning 

through sensory experiences that enhance cognitive, language, motor and social skills.

Learning Oak provides language experiences 

 with our Bilingual Spanish afternoons,  

 movement activities with Music and 

creative and open ended Art projects, 

 Children will engage in Science activities, 

manipulative and building with 

Small and Large Motor activities, 

pretend play in our Dramatic corner and  

Literacy with age appropriate materials and experiences.    

Full Day 2's and 3's 

 Center opens 7:00am-6:00pm 

Full Day 2' & 3's   

M-F 8:30-4:30

Full Day children will participate

in Mi Escuela , Bilingual  afternoons    

Morning 2's and 3's

M-F 8:30am-11:30am 

Add ons:

Early morning  Starts at 7:00 

 Extended day- Pick up after 4:30 

Preschool

 For children who are 

at 4 years of age by September 1st 

of the current school year  

and potty- trained up to 6 years of age, 

to best accommodate 

children with late birthdays. 

They will be exposed to hands on activities, 

involving Math, Science, 

Dramatic Play, Music, 

Small Motor,Large Motor, 

Social Science and 

Fine and language Arts. 

The curriculum is designed 

to foster their curiosity 

with concepts and exploration, 

as well as to foster characteristics 

that play a critical role 

in intellectual growth

such as self-confidence, 

self-esteem, 

and self-control. 


Center opens 7:00am-6:00pm  

Full Day Preschool   

M-F 8:30-4:30

Full Day children will participate

in Mi Escuela , Bilingual Preschool afternoon Program

  Morning Preschool 

M-F 8:30-11:30am

 (Minimum 2 or more days)

  Early Childhood Spanish Language 

Development Program 

 Mi Escuela (my school)

 offers a developmentally appropriate way 

to learn a  second language. 

This afternoon bilingual program 

will follow the same  concept in morning classes with an introduction 

to the Spanish language.  

Mi Escuela Bilingual Program 

taught in Spanish and English 

to  introduce children 

to the Spanish language, 

with a full preschool  curriculum 

with games, songs, crafts, Art,  

Science, Math,  Dramatic play, 

Small and Large Motor activities 

and Sensory experiences.  

This program is suitable 

for non Spanish speakers 

as well as native speakers.  

All levels are welcome.   

2'&3's and Preschoolers 

will have daily Spanish afternoons


Full Day children will participate

in Mi Escuela , 

Bilingual Preschool afternoon Program

Add on

Extended day- Pick up after 4:30

Center closes at 6:00pm

Admission Process

 

  To start the admission process,

 please fill out our inquiry form.

  Schedule a tour with the Director 

and ask as many questions as you wish.
 We are here for you! 

If a space is immediately available, 

we will let you know 

after we receive your contact form. 

We take families on a first come, first serve basis. 

Registration

Applications for entrance may be made any time during the year. 

Children are eligible whenever vacancies occur 

and a waiting list will be maintained. 

A minimum enrollment 

of two days per week is required, 

(two mornings, two afternoons or two full days). 

Each child is required to have emergency information and medical form, as well as additional required forms, filled out prior to your child’s first day of school. A contract between parents and Learning Oak detailing hours, days and fees needs to be signed at the time of registration. When registration takes place, applications are taken on a first come, first served basis. 

 

About our Director

Miss Maria

  

Miss Maria Nicosia is the Program Director and founder of Learning Oak.  

Miss Maria has spent her entire professional career in the Early Childhood Development field.      

A native of Argentina, she is a dedicated, positive and caring educator who has been extensively trained in Child Development and Early Childhood Education.

Miss Maria is a former Early Childhood Teacher of 17 years with the Park District of Oak Park where she taught Preschool in Spanish and English.  

She is the proud founder of "Mi Escuela", Spanish Preschool Program.  Miss Maria has over 23 years of experience in the Early Childhood field working in different settings.

Responsibilities include:

* Create and implement a developmentally appropriate educational program
* Ensure children are supervised at all times

* Maintain organized and clean classrooms

* Must be willing to work flexible hours in order to meet the needs of the program.

 Requirements/Qualifications:

*Associate of Arts Degree: Early Childhood Development required.

*Sixty semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development, from birth to age six.
*Must be able to work shifts between the hours of 6:30am-6:30pm Monday through Friday.

*Need to meet all other DCFS requirements.
*Have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, a passion for working with young children, and be energetic while maintaining a healthy, happy, and safe environment for kids and fostering open communication with parents.

*Bi-lingual Spanish is a plus.

*ECE Credential Level 4 or higher preferred
